Desilting work of mega pipeline; 1100 industrial units to remain shut in Ahmedabad from Mar 5
March 01, 2023
Amdavad: More than 1,100 chemical and textile units in Ahmedabad, located in key industrial areas such as Naroda, Vatva, and Odhav, will remain shut for 10 days starting from March 5. The reason for the closure is that the Ahmedabad Mega Clean Association (AMCA) will be conducting desilting work on the mega pipeline and installing meters at key locations to measure effluent water flow.
AMCA chairman Shailesh Patwari said, “Once desilting begins, Naroda, Odhav and Vatva CETPs will not be able to discharge treated effluent water in the mega line for around 10 days. In this situation, CETP member units will also stop sending their primary treated effluent water to their CETP. Therefore, they must stop production activity for around 10 days.”
The AMCA will incur a cost of around Rs 2.50 crore for the desilting work, while each unit is expected to suffer a production loss of approximately Rs 10 lakh. The mega line, with a capacity of 75 MLD over 27km, was established in 2001 to transport treated effluent water from CETPs in Odhav, Naroda, and Vatva. DeshGujarat
