Botad: The union government has selected Umdagedi village in Botad as one of two villages that have established exemplary Amrit Sarovar. The decision was made during the 41st Pragati Meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Modi last week.
The lake in Umdagedi village spans 12.74 acres and contains 4.71 lakh cubic metres of water, which is used to irrigate fields in approximately a dozen surrounding villages.
The lake has met all the necessary requirements to qualify as an ‘Amrit Sarovar’ and is equipped with a flag mast, seating and recreational facilities, good road connectivity, CCTV cameras and tree plantations.
According to the official statement, the village panchayat has spent Rs 1.50 crore on renovating the lake, utilizing CSR funds, MNREGA projects, and other government schemes. DeshGujarat
