BJP suspends former MLA, two others over rebel in Vijapur market yard election

Vijapur: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has suspended former legislator PI Patel along with Suresh Patel and Bharat Patel from the party.

The party has suspended the leaders over their rebel candidature in the Vijapur Agriculture Produce Market Committee election against the official panel of BJP.

It’s worth noting that the State BJP chief CR Patil has announced a policy that the party will give a mandate for candidature in cooperative elections, be it the agriculture market yards, banks, or dairies.

While BJP had fielded former MLA Ramanbhai Patel led the panel in the Vijapur market yard election, former MLA PI Patel had rebelled against the party’s panel and ignored the party’s directive to withdraw the nomination. PI Patel had subsequently won the election along with his supported Suresh Patel, while Bharat Patel had lost the election. Suresh Patel had also wrote a letter addressing to form former district BJP chief which had gone viral on social media. In this letter, Suresh Patel had made allegations against BJP’s official candidate Ramanbhai Patel.

The district president of the party had initially served a show-cause notice to PI Patel. Unsatisfied with the reply received to the notice, the party decided to suspend PI Patel and two others. DeshGujarat
