Amdavad: Gujarat Vidyapith decided to end the rule of mandatory hostel stay for the students on Monday in a meeting of the Gujarat Vidyapith trustee board.
The Gujarat Vidyapith trustee board meeting was held at Raj Bhawan and was presided over by Gujarat governor Acharya Devvrat. It was decided in the meeting to cancel the rule of mandatory living in the hostel for all higher education students and make the hostel stay optional from the next academic year.
The decision means that hostel living will be optional for students at the university’s three campuses, including the Ahmedabad campus, from the upcoming academic year. Hostel living was made mandatory for students in 2007, and at present, 2700 students are living in the hostel.
Furthermore, the board formed a review committee to manage various works and management-related matters. The vice chancellor of the Teachers University, Harshad Patel, was appointed as the chairman of the committee, and Dilip Thakar and two other board members were included in the committee. DeshGujarat
