Surat: The police found an old woman beggar in Surat to be a citizen of Bangladesh, who arrived in India on the basis of one-year multiple visa.

A team of SOG detained a 63-year-old woman named Malekabegam alias Malika Seken Sardar on Wednesday evening for begging near Khwajadana Dargah. Malika had been living in Surat and begging since illegally entering India. She used to earn Rs. 700 to 1000 daily. After collecting some money she returned to her native Gopalpur in the Gopalganj district, Bangladesh in July 2022 for a few days.
