Rajkot: Rajkot – Morbi four-track highway work worth Rs. 260 crore began in September 2017. It was to be completed in 19 months, however, it is yet not completed. Its deadline has been extended twice. Five over bridges and three flyovers are completed on this 63.30 km long highway stretch. However, the construction of a railway bridge over Navlakhi railway crossing is yet to be completed. Similarly, the works of streetlight installation and other minor works are pending as well.
The highway connects Rajkot to Kutch. The construction works are ongoing for the last five years at an extremely slow pace. While the road is ready, minor works like road marks, sign boards, railing, and a major work of Navlakhi railway over the bridge are yet to be completed.
According to the sources of the Road & Building department, Rs. 276.50 crore works were to be completed in 19 months only but the deadline was later extended to 31st June 2020 and later further extended. DeshGujarat
