Police bust gambling activity in Taj hotel building on Sindhu Bhavan road

Ahmedabad: Prevention of Crime Branch (PCB) of Ahmedabad Police busted an alleged gambling den in a raid at Taj Hotel on Sindhu Bhavan road here and nabbed 10 accused.
PCB has seized items worth Rs 10.50 lakh including Rs 9.83 lakh cash. The police acting on a tip of, raided room no 721 on the seventh floor of the Taj Hotel. The police nabbed 10 accused and seized their mobile phones, cash, and 186 coins which were according to the Police used for gambling.
The 10 accused include builders and industrialists. One of them is Kailash Ramavtar Goenka, associated with the Sankalp Group. He is the owner of the hotel. He allegedly called his friends for gambling at the hotel and also played with them. He also took rent of the room from the people coming there for gambling. The names of the other accused are Shankarbhai Mohanbhai Patel, Ajitbhai Shantilal Shah, Kanubhai Ambalal Patel, Bhavin Indrajit Parikh, Pradip Rambhai Patel, Bharatbhai Manilal Patel, Jagdish Bhagvanbhai Desai, Narendrabhai Jivanlal Patel. The 10 accused are released on bail.
The police found a round table surrounded by 10 chairs with playing cards and tokens used for gambling on it during the raid in the room. The police found red and white colored coins used for gambling. The gambling den was reportedly operating for about a week.DeshGujarat
