May 20, 2023
Ahmedabad: The state education department has announced a common academic calendar for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
The calendar instructs universities to commence the admission process on June 1 and complete it by June 20, following the announcement of Class 12 results. However, it is noted that universities often extend their admission periods beyond the designated 20 days.
According to the department’s statement, the first academic session for UG semester 3-5 and PG semester 3 will run from June 15 to December 16. The first semester for newly admitted UG and PG students will begin on June 21, with a Diwali holiday starting from November 10. The vacation duration for all universities, including GTU, will be the same.
First internal evaluations will be conducted from December 1 to 16. The second academic session for UG semester 2, 4, 6 and PG semester 2, 4 will start from December 2023 and end on April 30, 2024.
The second round of internal evaluations will be held from April 1 to 30. The second academic session will conclude by April 30, followed by a 46-day summer vacation starting from May 1. The new academic year will commence on June 17, 2024.
According to sources, the absence of a schedule for final exams in the academic calendar has caused confusion. The statement advises teaching and non-teaching staff to be prepared for duty during internal evaluations. DeshGujarat
