Gandhinagar: Gujarat government has decided to increase the dearness allowance of state government employees and pensioners by four per cent based on the central government guidelines. The increase will take effect from 01-07-2022, followed by another four per cent increase from 01-01-2023.
This additional benefit will be applicable to employees who have already received the benefits of the 7th Pay Commission. Approximately 9.38 lakh individuals, including state government employees, panchayat service employees, and other state government pensioners, will receive this additional dearness allowance benefit.
To ensure timely payment, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has decided to distribute the arrears resulting from the eight percent increase in dearness allowance in three installments. The first installment will be paid along with the June 2023 salary, the second installment with the August 2023 salary, and the third installment with the October 2023 salary. This increase in dearness allowance will lead to an annual financial burden of approximately Rs. 4,516 crore on the state government. DeshGujarat
