June 03, 2023
Gandhinagar: The installation of cross-metal barriers along the Vande Bharat train on the Ahmedabad – Mumbai route is expected to be completed by June 2023, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Jitendra Kumar informed the media persons.
The project to increase the speed of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Vande Bharat train from 130 km/h to 160 km/h is scheduled to be completed by April 2024, he added.
The installation of cross-metal barriers is being carried out to prevent accidents involving trains and cattle. These barriers have been already installed along a 380 km section of the 623 km route. Additionally, work is also underway to install a shield that will help prevent accidents between two trains.
Once the speed of the train is increased to 160 km/h, the travel time from Ahmedabad to Mumbai will be reduced to 4 hours and 40 minutes, compared to the current travel time of 5 hours and 25 minutes, meaning 45 minutes of saving. In order to achieve this goal, the curves on the railway tracks are being removed in addition to overhead equipment works. DeshGujarat
