Kodinar municipality launches local city van service
June 08, 2023
Gir Somnath: The Kodinar municipality in Gir Somnath district has launched five new mini AC city vans for the public. Yes, you heard it right! These are the city vans and not city buses. The Municipality has introduced Maruti Eeco model vans for public transport locally instead of buses as the operations of local city buses for public transport often fail in small towns due to bad economics and also adds to the problem of traffic.
These vans will charge a fare of only Rs 2 for an 8 km journey within the town. The vans will operate on a designated route covering areas such as Jin plot, Unazanpa, Janbai Mandir, Ambedkar Chowk, Chhara Zanpa, Ajanta Chowk, Fish Market, Pani Darwaja, and Sardar Nagar. The vans will be operational from 7 am to 7 pm in the city. The grant for the mini-city vans has been allocated by the 14th financial commission of the state government. DeshGujarat
