Female students confront harasser, beat him with belts in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: A man near Balubhai Cross Road had been regularly involved in eve-teasing and harassing female students. However, today some female students stood up against him and confronted him, using belts to beat him.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred this morning when two sisters, one in college and one studying at Nelson School, were standing at the bus stand. The accused attempted to molest them and kissed one of them. They confronted him, raised an alarm, and called for help when the man attempted to harass them. Hearing the commotion, people rushed to the scene. The locals quickly nabbed the accused, and the girls took matters into their own hands by beating him with a belt to teach him a lesson. The entire incident was captured on video and has since gone viral. It is also learnt that the accused also gifted something to the girls a day before.

The police were immediately notified and arrived at the location to take the man into custody. A complaint has been registered at the Kagdapith Police Station by the father of the girls, and a thorough investigation is currently underway to address the matter. Initial reports indicate that the accused’s name is Vijay Sarkare, and he resides in the vicinity of Bhulabhai Park. Allegations have surfaced, suggesting that this young man has been involved in frequent instances of molesting girls and women who pass through the area.

The police have registered an offence under Section 354A (Sexual harassment and punishment for sexual harassment) and 354B (Assault or use of criminal force to a woman with the intent to disrobe) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The accused is also charged under Section 11(1), (4), (6), and Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. DeshGujarat
