Himmatnagar: The Geology department office here filed a complaint at Himmatnagar rural police station against seven members of a WhatsApp group for sharing the details of the movements of the officials of the Geology department in the WhatsApp group.
Geologist Kishanbhai Patel filed a complaint stating that several mineral thieves and their accomplices often send specific persons to keep a watch on the movements of the officials of the geology department at the collector’s office for the past several days. Around 7 persons formed a WhatsApp group named ‘Rat Na Raja’ on 19th May.
They started sharing the details of the movements of the officials of the geology department in the group, as per the complaint. The accused shared details of the movements of the officials in private or public vehicles through the group, as per the complaint. They did financial damage to the government by getting monetary benefits through mineral theft, illegal mining, and storage, as per the complaint.
It’s worth noting that mining mafias in order to get the information on raids to be carried out against illegal mineral theft had a few months ago attached GPS system in the cars used by the officials of the Geology department. The department had filed a police complaint in that regard. In a new modus Operandi, the mining mafias have roped in the persons to get the details in Whatsapp group.
