Indian Railways announces Jodhpur – Sabarmati Vande Bharat Express train

Gandhinagar: Gujarat will soon have the second Vande Bharat express train. It will connect the city of Ahmedabad in Gujarat to Jodhpur in neighboring state Rajasthan. According to an announcement made by the Ministry of Railways, this latest Vande Bharat train is going to be launched within the current week.
‘Buckle up for the Jodhpur- Ahmedabad (Sabarmati) Vande Bharat Express, all set to traverse through the two states in an enriching fusion, 3 days to go!’ the Railway department stated in its announcement. The new train will not reach Kalupur railway station but end its journey at Sabarmati railway station.
Gujarat has one Vande Bharat Express presently running on Gandhinagar – Mumbai route through halts at Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Vapi and Borivali stations.
The Jodhpur-Sabarmati Vande Bharat train will cover around 440 km distance in just 6.5 hours. It will be the second Vande Bharat Express for Rajasthan as well. The first Vande Bharat train for Rajasthan, which operates between Ajmer and Delhi Cantonment, was launched on April 12, 2023.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to flag off this train on Friday (July 7), for which a trial run will take place on July 5.
The premium semi-high-speed train is expected to leave Jodhpur Junction at 6 am and will reach Sabarmati at 12:05 pm. On the return journey, from Sabarmati the train will leave at 4:45 pm and reach Jodhpur at 10:45 pm.
The train will travel through 440 km route in 6.5 hours, through halts at Mahesana, Palanpur, Abu Road, Falna and Pali. The ticket rates are expected to be in the range of Rs 800 to Rs 1600 per person. It will operate six days a week except Sundays with two seat categories of Executive Class and AC Chair cars.
