Okha port based ICG ship ‘Abheek’ rescues 05 fishermen off Kerala coast

Dwarka: Indian Coast Guard ship Abheek, based at Okha port in Devbhumi Dwarka District, undertook a daring mission in rough monsoon seas off Beypore (Kerala) to rescue 05 fishermen from a boat named “UK Sons” stranded at sea. The Indian Coast Guard ship was en route to Okha from Kochi.
The fishing boat named UK Sons, with 05 crew members, ventured out at sea off Beypore on June 30, 2023. Due to the deterioration in weather during the subsequent days, the boat was unable to enter any fishing harbor due to heavy waves and swell.
On July 06, 2023, the owner informed the Indian Coast Guard Station at Beypore that the weather had further deteriorated. As a result, the Indian Coast Guard Ship Abheek was diverted to recover the crew safely. Indian Coast Guard ship Abheek arrived at the scene expeditiously. The efforts and courage executed by the crew of ICGS Abheek in the face of adverse weather conditions resulted in the successful rescue of all 05 precious lives at sea. DeshGujarat
