Gujarat-origin Nimil Parekh nominated to Singapore’s Parliament as MP

Gandhinagar: Gujarat orifine Nimil Parekh has been nominated as a Member of Parliament (MP) in Singapore. The 60-year-old Parekh, who is a Singaporean citizen, has been residing in the country for 17 years.
Parekh, the younger brother of Gujarat based Sunil Parekh, is into finance industry throughout his career. He currently serves as the Partner and Head of Asia, Australia, and New Zealand at Tikehau Capital, as well as the CEO of Pegasus Asia, a special-purpose acquisition company listed on the Singapore Exchange.
Parekh holds the position of Chairman of the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and serves as a Council Member of the Singapore Business Federation. Additionally, he contributes to Elevandi, a platform established by the Monetary Authority of Singapore to facilitate dialogue between the public and private sectors in advancing FinTech within the digital economy.
“Nimil’s nomination to the Parliament of Singapore is a proud moment for all of us. His extensive knowledge and experience in the finance industry and economy will add a lot of value to Singapore’s parliament,” Mr Sunil Parekh said on his brother’s achievement.
He is also a member of the Advisory Council of James Cook University (Singapore) and has initiated programmes aimed at increasing financial literacy in Singapore. Parekh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Honours), a Master’s degree in Commerce, and MBA from Northeastern University. He worked in Wall Street & then in Singapore since 2006.
Parekh’s nomination as an MP follows the appointment of 9 Nominated Members of Parliament (NMPs) by the President of Singapore. NMPs are chosen for their independent and non-partisan views, often representing distinguished individuals who have excelled in various fields such as arts, literature, business, and public service.
