Junagadh gets 11 inches rains in 6 hours; Sutrapada receives maximum rainfall over 24 inches since yesterday

Gandhinagar: Several parts of the state have been witnessing heavy to very heavy downpours since yesterday. From 6 am to 12 noon today, Mangrol taluka in Junagadh district of Saurashtra region received the maximum rainfall, up to 11 inches. However, in the last 24 hours ending at 06:00 am today, the maximum rainfall of over 21 inches was recorded in Sutrapada taluka of Gir Somnath.

According to data from the State Emergency Operation Center, 9 talukas of the state have received more than 3 inches of rain in just 6 hours since 6 am today. These talukas are Mangrol (11.2 inches), Maliya Hatina (6.3), Patan-Veraval (4.2), Vapi (3.7), Keshod (3.2), Sojitra (3.2), Umreth (3.2), Junagadh (3), and Junagadh city (3). A total of 80 talukas have witnessed rain today.

The data from the past 24 hours, from 18 July, 06:00 am to 19 July, 06:00 am, shows that Sutrapada received the most amount of rain with 21 inches. Veraval followed closely with 18.9 inches, while Talala recorded 11.7 inches and Dhoraji received 11.65 inches of rainfall. Kodinar received 8.5 inches, Jamkandorna recorded 6.9 inches, and Upleta received 4.7 inches. Anand recorded 3.9 inches, while both Surat and Vapi received 4 inches of rain. Overall, a total of 176 talukas witnessed rain showers on Tuesday.

During the last 24 hours ending 6 am today, Ahmedabad witnessed rainfall up to 1.3 inches. Surat saw rain up to 4 inches, Vadodara received rainfall up to 1.8 inches, and Rajkot recorded rainfall up to 11 inches.

As of this morning, the state has received approximately 55 percent of the average monsoon rainfall. The Kutch region has recorded 112.37 percent of the expected rainfall, followed by Saurashtra at 76.25 percent. North Gujarat received 51.82 percent, while South Gujarat recorded 44.61 percent.
