PM Modi to inaugurate SDB in December 2023; Surat also likely to get more international flights

Surat: Union aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia conveyed that efforts were on to see that Surat airport get flights to Dubai and Hong Kong in upcoming months of December or January. Scindia conveyed this to the delegation of diamond barons who were in the national capital to meet and invite the Prime Minister for inauguration of world’s largest office building – Surat Diamond Bourse in later part of this year.
The diamond barons informed media persons that PM Modi has given consent to inaugurate SDB, and the possible dates are conveyed as 17 or 24 December. The delegation of Surat diamond bourse during the meeting with the PM also proposed to increase international connectivity at the Surat airport. PM Modi, in response to this, asked state BJP chief CR Patil to take the delegation to meet union aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.
The diamond bourse committee during their meeting with Scindia proposed to start daily flights to Dubai and Hong Kong; and weekly flights to Bangkok, Singapore, and New York from Surat. Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, in response, assured efforts to start daily flights to Dubai and Hong Kong from Surat in December or January.
