SOG patrols Soni Market in Rajkot; 16 booked for non-verification of migrant workers

Rajkot: Special Operations Group (SOG) Police have been deployed for patrolling in Soni Market following the arrest of 3 alleged terrorists working in the market by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). During this patrolling, a complaint has been lodged against 16 individuals at the division police station for violating the notification related to the verification of migrant labourers working here or renting any premises.
According to the details received, the Rajkot City SOG Police conducted a patrolling operation in the Soni Bazar area of Rajkot on Thursday. During the patrol, a complaint was filed against Ravi Mundhwa, Prakash Patdia, Ashwin Vaya, Alpesh Raninga, Girish Dholakia, Najirdosen Sheikh, Chandrakant Jadia, Bhaskar Radhanpara, Prashant Padia, Nazimul Haque, Pankaj Adesara, Vikramdas Vaishnav, Mayuriben Shah, Manoj Soni, and Balkrishna Dholakia for not adhering to the police commissioner’s declaration.
Rajkot Police Commissioner Raju Bhargav had appealed to the Gold Merchant Organizations in the city, urging them to ensure immediate police verification of the Bengali workers employed by them. This measure is aimed at detecting any involvement in illegal activities and facilitating easy communication.
Currently, approximately 90% of migrants working in the Soni market have pending registrations. The President of Rajkot Soni Bazar Traders and Bengali Artisans Association expressed concern about this issue and demanded immediate action to ensure proper registration with supporting evidence for all Bengali artisans working in Rajkot Soni Bazar.
