Finance Ministry to hold Chintan Shivir at Statue of Unity on Aug 20-21

Ektanagar: The finance ministry has scheduled a two-day ‘Chintan Shivir’ brainstorming session in Kevadia here on August 20th and 21st, with the objective of discussing a range of topics, including the roadmap for India’s transformation into a developed nation by 2047.

During the course of the two-day event at Kevadia, participants will include senior officials and Secretaries from six departments within the finance ministry, along with those from the corporate affairs ministry. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is slated to address the assembly on August 21.

The Chintan Shivir, strategically planned just ahead of the G20 Leaders’ Summit, will incorporate dedicated sessions delving into the multifaceted agenda pursued under India’s current Presidency. India currently holds the G20 Presidency, with the upcoming Summit scheduled for September 9–10 in the national capital.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unequivocally called for propelling India to developed nation status by 2047, marking the nation’s 100th year of independence. Over the past nine years, India’s economy has ascended from the tenth largest global economy to the fifth spot, driven by a series of reforms, including the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), the implementation of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), and the expansion of foreign investment into sectors like space and defence.

A recent report by S&P Global has projected India’s gross domestic product to nearly double, ascending to USD 6.7 trillion by 2030–31 from its current value of USD 3.4 trillion in 2022–23. DeshGujarat
