Police in Ahmedabad to take action against sellers of dark films for cars
August 15, 2023
Ahmedabad: The number of cars with black-tinted windows is increasing day by day in the city, with about 60 out of every 100 cars having dark-tinted windows. The owners of these cars indulge in various allegedly illegal activities, as the tinted glasses prevent clear visibility into the vehicle’s interior. Although the police do file cases against such drivers, the focus is now shifting towards targeting the dealers who sell and install these dark films, in order to eradicate their usage.
Chirag Kordia, Additional Commissioner of Police, Sector-1, stated that following recent incidents, the police have been inspecting vehicles between 10 pm and 2 am every night. This has revealed that around 50 to 60 out of every 100 cars possess dark-tinted films on their windows.
Despite the prohibition on using dark films on car windows, accessory traders openly continue to sell these films, and car owners continue to apply them. To eliminate this persistent issue of dark films on car windows, the city police will initiate legal actions against the dealers responsible for selling and installing these films. The Public Information Officer (PIO) has been instructed to compile a list of accessory dealers specializing in dark films. Within the next 2 to 3 days, cases will be filed against these dealers, and arrests will be made.
Currently, if the police apprehend a car with dark films installed, the film is removed in the presence of the police, and a fine ranging from Rs. 500 to Rs. 1000 is imposed on the vehicle owner. DeshGujarat
