With 72 of every 100 people using internet, Gujarat has 5.18 crore users

Gandhinagar: The Internet was introduced to the masses in India on August 15, 1995. As per a report from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, 72 out of every 100 individuals in Gujarat are internet users, surpassing the national average of 62. Within the state, there are a total of 5.18 crore internet users, consisting of 1.67 crore rural and 3.51 crore urban users. Notably, Uttar Pradesh boasts the highest number of internet users in India, totalling 10.76 crores.
The report also highlights that out of India’s overall 86.59 crore internet users, a staggering 96%, or 83.23 crore Indians, access the internet solely through mobile devices. According to information furnished by the central government in the Lok Sabha, the state has a total of 19,856 mobile towers where 5G services have been started by various private companies. The state also has a total of 1,58,928 Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) of 4 different companies.
