Muslim youth living in Surat with fake Hindu name held; His 3 different Aadhaar cards recovered

Surat: The Special Operation Group (S.O.G.) police here have recovered three Aadhaar cards from a Muslim youth who has been living in the city for seven years. Among these cards, two bore Muslim names while one carried a Hindu name.

It has been revealed that the youth’s real name is Md. Tohidul Ajij (originally hailing from Uttar Dinajpur district in West Bengal). He married a Hindu girl he met while working at a spa and decided against residing in a Muslim area. As it was hard to secure rental accommodation in a Hindu locality with his Muslim name, he resorted to creating a fake Aadhaar card under the name ‘Rohit Sharma.’

Acting on information that the individual was using a Hindu name while being a Muslim, SOG Sub Inspector A P Jaebaliya, and Constable Kaushal detained the 26-year-old, who resided in Himgiri Apt of Palanpore Patiya. This operation led to the recovery of three Aadhaar cards out of which two cards had Muslim names while one had a Hindu name.

After the police interrogation, it came to light that he was originally from the Uttar Dinajpur district in West Bengal, and his real name was Md. Tohidul Ajij. He had come to Surat seven years ago for employment and had worked as a manager at various spas. The decision to create a false Aadhaar card in the name of ‘Ahmed Aran Khan’ aimed to prevent potential legal complications if he were to be associated with a case involving a spa disguised as a brothel.

It is learnt that two years ago, he fell in love with a Hindu girl working at a spa and subsequently married her. Due to her preference, he chose not to live in a Muslim area. Therefore, in order to secure rental accommodation in a Hindu locality, he created a third Aadhaar card using the name ‘Rohit Sharma’ as he faced difficulties securing housing with his Muslim name. Tohidul, who produced two falsified Aadhaar cards sequentially, has been booked and arrested by the S.O.G. for his actions.

The accused also admitted that he got the other two fake Aadhaar cards for Rs 1500 each from Kamrej, without needing additional documents. While the system is designed to allow only one Aadhaar card per person, using fingerprints, thumb impressions, and iris scans, in this case, three cards were issued fraudulently under the same name. The process even included iris scans and pillar impressions embedded in the barcode. Queries arise about how this person managed to get three Aadhaar cards. DeshGujarat
