AMC continues to experiment with tyre killer bumps; Another one installed

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has installed another tyre killer speed breaker in the city on an experimental basis. The latest bump has been installed on the service lane of Shyamal flyover.

While the bump is working as deterrent and lot of vehicle riders refrain to pass over it, some offenders still do adventure of passing above it. It is observed however that portion of tyre killer bump has developed problem in its spring on the first day itself and therefore the vehicles can be seen still passing over the bump without apparent damage in tyre.

The installations of tyre killer bumps are so far on experimental basis to check whether this measure works well or not in curbing the wrong-side driving. The suggestion for installation of tyre killer bumps was given orally by the High Court judge to the AMC during hearing of a case pertaining to traffic problems in the Ahmedabad city.

In another development, the AMC has closed the road divider near Atithi restaurant on Judges Bungalow road which leads to the Sindhu Bhavan road char rasta on SG highway. The High Court judges regularly pass through this route and along with other common people, they face traffic obstructions due to the open divider next to the Atithi restaurant on this road.
