Conman Kiran Patel gets bail in fake PMO officer case by Srinagar court

Srinagar: A local court here in Srinagar today granted bail to conman Kiran Patel from Gujarat, who was nabbed in March this year for impersonating a high-ranking official from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

According to Anil Raina, one of Patel’s lawyers, the chief judicial magistrate’s court in Srinagar approved bail for Patel, who is currently held in the central jail. Raina stated that Patel was granted bail upon furnishing a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and two local sureties of the same amount.

Kiran Patel garnered attention when he was arrested in Jammu and Kashmir for pretending to be a senior official from the PMO back in March. This incident came to light after videos showing him moving about under security protection went viral.

The J-K Police apprehended Patel from a luxurious hotel in Srinagar, where he was allegedly presenting himself as an “additional secretary” within the central government. Throughout his visits to the Valley, he enjoyed both security coverage and other accommodations.

At the time of his arrest on March 3, Patel was on his third visit to Kashmir. He had asserted that the government had entrusted him with the responsibility of identifying potential buyers for apple orchards in south Kashmir. DeshGujarat
