Digi Yatra facility at SVPI Airport in Ahmedabad from Sept 4
August 29, 2023
Ahmedabad: The Digi Yatra facility will be implemented for passengers of all airlines operating from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport from September 4, 2023. It will decrease the time taken between checking in at the airport and reaching the boarding gate to as little as five minutes.
Through the adoption of the “Digi Yatra” initiative, travelers will no longer need to search for identification documents or carry physical copies of tickets and boarding passes. The newly introduced biometric boarding system by SVPIA will streamline the processes of check-in, security, and boarding, offering a seamless and paper-free experience.
In trial runs held last week, this service was exclusively accessible to passengers of two airlines – Akasa Air and IndiGo. Almost 4,000 individuals made use of the program during these trials. The airport operator stated that all airlines would be incorporated into the system by September.
Digi Yatra is a mobile application-based facility conceived to achieve contactless, seamless processing of passengers at airports based on facial recognition technology (FRT).
Passengers can enroll in the Digi Yatra system at the airport, via the Digi Yatra online portal, or by downloading the Digi Yatra mobile app, available on both iOS and Android platforms. Upon registration, they will receive a unique Digi Yatra ID designated for all future domestic air travel. This ID, linked to the PNR number, stores traveler data within the Digi Yatra portal.
The biometric system can validate e-tickets and boarding passes, thereby reducing the requirement for physical documents. Passengers lacking an Aadhar or a Digi Yatra ID can check in using biometric validation. Additionally, the app provides real-time updates regarding flight delays and airport congestion. DeshGujarat
