Valsad District’s Kakwadi Primary School offering Modern Education in tribal area
September 04, 2023
Valsad: Education in Gujarat has seen significant improvements, reaching students across the state, thanks to the dedicated efforts of teachers. While cities and towns have witnessed substantial enhancements in education, even schools in remote areas have evolved into smart institutions.
Kakwadi Primary School (KPS) in Valsad district is one such outstanding example. The teachers at KPS have been instrumental in the school’s success story, providing unwavering support and guidance to young learners, shaping their future, and nurturing their talents. Through their efforts, KPS has become a beacon of quality education in Gujarat, impacting the lives of countless students.
Situated just a kilometer away from the coastal area, this school faced many challenges. However, the teachers took on various projects, transforming the school into a green and smart schooling ecosystem.
Students at the school have been divided into groups, each responsible for different aspects such as waste management, water collection and purification, organic farming, and more. This hands-on approach not only helped them understand these concepts but also led to the school becoming a green ecosystem.
The school provides modern education, including computer literacy and digital literacy, using advanced technology such as smartboards in every classroom. Students can independently manage their education and assessments through the teacher’s guidance.
Safety is a top priority across the campus, with CCTV monitoring in all areas. Each classroom is equipped with separate speakers for effective communication.
Apart from academics, the school focuses on the overall development of students. It offers nutritious midday meals to all students free of cost. Various cultural and recreational activities are included in the curriculum. In 2022, students participated and excelled in various competitions, including the Khel Mahakumbh.
The school follows a ‘No Plastic Zone’ policy, strictly prohibiting single-use plastic. The school’s efforts in waste management and recycling have improved the surrounding environment. With a rich variety of flora, including palm trees, ficus, and bamboo, the campus has become an enriching environment.
The consistent efforts and support from the state government have earned Kakwadi Primary School several awards. In 2020-21, it received the IGBC Green School Building Award, making it the first among 380 schools in the country. The school’s ‘Green Schooling’ concept, part of the Mission School of Excellence project in Gujarat, sets an exemplary standard. It was also acknowledged by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
In Gujarat’s rural expanses, schools like Kakwadi Primary School are playing a special role in the transformation of education. DeshGujarat
