Digi Yatra facility available only for Akasa Air and IndiGo flights at Ahmedabad Airport so far
September 06, 2023
Ahmedabad: The Digi Yatra facility has now been launched for passengers travelling from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport. Currently, the service is only available with Akasa Air and select IndiGo flights, with more to follow, as announced by the airport management in a tweet. It will decrease the time taken between checking in at the airport and reaching the boarding gate to as little as five minutes.
Through the adoption of the “Digi Yatra” initiative, travellers will no longer need physical identification documents, tickets, or boarding passes. The newly introduced biometric boarding system by SVPIA will streamline the processes of check-in, security, and boarding, offering a seamless and paper-free experience.
Digi Yatra is a mobile application-based facility that allows for the digital processing of passengers at an airport across various touchpoints. This technology provides a Biometric Enabled Seamless Travel (BEST) experience based on the Facial Recognition System (FRS).
Passengers can enroll in the Digi Yatra system at the airport, through the Digi Yatra online portal, or by downloading the Digi Yatra mobile app, available on both iOS and Android platforms. Upon registration, they will receive a unique Digi Yatra ID designated for all future domestic air travel. This ID, linked to the PNR number, stores traveller data within the Digi Yatra portal.
The biometric system can validate e-tickets and boarding passes, reducing the need for physical documents. Passengers lacking an Aadhar or a Digi Yatra ID can check in using biometric validation. Additionally, the app provides real-time updates regarding flight delays and airport congestion. DeshGujarat
