Surat: Dakshesh Mavani has become the new Mayor of Surat city. Naresh Patil has been elected as his deputy. Rajan Patel has been appointed as the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC). Shashiben Tripathi has been made the leader of the ruling party. Dhamesh Vaniawala has been appointed as the whip.

Mavani has been elected as the 38th Mayor of the Surat Civic body. He is a councilor from ward no. 6, Katargam.

The names were decided by the ruling BJP’s state parliamentary board in a series of meetings in Gandhinagar last week. The new office bearers will hold these posts for two and a half years after the previous term of elected office bearers ended. DeshGujarat
