Surat: Gujarat’s first ‘Only for Women’ city bus service was kicked off in Surat city on Sunday evening.

The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) decided to introduce bus services exclusively for females in the 2023-24 budget. Approval for the initiative was granted during the city link company’s board meeting on August 18th. The ‘Only for Women’ bus service commenced with a route from Sarthana Nature Park to Magdalla Char Rasta. Currently, the service operates on a single route, with plans to expand to other routes as per requirement. The bus drivers for this service are also female.

Currently, the BRTS buses operate on 13 routes in the city, and the city bus service covers 45 routes across Surat. DeshGujarat
