Gandhinagar: The Panchayat Talim Kendra (Panchayat Training Centre) in Gandhinagar in Gujarat will be renamed as ‘Narendra Modi Panchayat Raj Evam Gramin Vikas Sansthan’.
The training institute functions under the Gujarat State Panchayat Parishad which is an arm of the Government of Gujarat. It will be named after the present Prime Minister Narendra Modi as per the decision taken by the executive committee of the Parishad.
Bharat Gajipara, Secretary of Parishad confirmed this.
The existing building of Gujarat Panchayat Parishad has turned old. Parishad has therefore acquired 2500 sq.m. government land for construction of a new Panchayat Talim Bhavan at a cost of Rs. 36 crore. The complex will have ladies and gents hostels, central AC auditorium, smart classroom, reading library and staff quarters.
This is probably the third naming of an entity in Gujarat after PM Narendra Modi. Earlier a cricket stadium in Ahmedabad by Gujarat Cricket Association and a medical college in the city by Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) had been named after Narendra Modi in recent years. DeshGujarat
