Ahmedabad Crime Branch bust gambling racket in Dariapur; 27 nabbed

Ahmedabad: The city’s crime branch nabbed more than 25 individuals at Manpasand Gymkhana in Dariapur in connection with gambling on Sunday.

Providing details of the case, PI J. H. Sindhav of the crime branch stated that there were prior reports of such activities occurring. However, as soon as the Crime Branch received information, they conducted a raid on Sunday. Further investigation into the matter will determine how long this had been ongoing and identify other individuals who may have benefited economically from it. A total of 27 people were detained, and no vehicles were seized from the location.

Providing information about some accused the official said, In individual named Gama was operating the gym with two others. Gama had been apprehended six times previously. Yusuf had been imprisoned under the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) in 1994 along with Latif and Wahab. Another case had been registered against him at Karanj Police Station.

The official mentioned that the accused racket used CCTV networks to safeguard themselves, alerting them if the police were approaching. However, yesterday, the crime branch team bypassed the CCTV network and caught the gamblers red-handed. DeshGujarat
