DFC over-bridge connecting Kim and Sayan opens in Surat

Surat: A 1125-meter Road Over Bridge (ROB) was made open for public today in here. The ROB is located between Western Dedicated Freight Corridor’s New Gothangam and New Sanjali, connecting Indian Railway’s Kim and Sayan stations on the Delhi-Mumbai Rajdhani route.

The new infrastructure project, which replaces Level Crossing 156, is another step towards a level crossing free DFC. This opening is set to alleviate traffic congestion, enhance safety, and boost connectivity in the region.

The Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, often referred to as Western DFC, is an ongoing project in India that spans a distance of 1,506 kilometers. This freight corridor, with a gauge of 1,676 mm (5 ft 6 in), is designed to connect Dadri, situated in Uttar Pradesh near Delhi, to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra while passing through Haryana, Gujarat and Rajasthan.

The construction and management of this corridor fall under the purview of the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), a government-owned entity operating under the Ministry of Railways. It is noteworthy that this corridor will eventually feature electrification and double-line operations for enhanced efficiency and capacity. DeshGujarat
