DEO forms inquiry panel for Namaz incident in Ghatlodia school
October 07, 2023
Ahmedabad: The District Education Officer (DEO) of Ahmedabad city has appointed a three-member investigative panel to examine the incident at Kalorex Future School in Ghatlodia. A video went viral on social media in which a Class 2 student was seen participating in namaaz (Islamic prayer) and subsequently singing a song promoting communal harmony alongside four other students.
Rohit Chaudhary, the Ahmedabad city District Education Officer, stated, “The school had no intention of offending anyone’s religious sentiments. To determine whether the school obtained parental consent for the students and to investigate whether any staff members made mistakes, we have established this inquiry committee.”
A protest was staged at the school by members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Hindu organizations on Tuesday after the video surfaced. The demonstrators alleged that the students were being coerced into performing prayers from different faiths. It is noteworthy that the DEO cleared Kalorex Future School of any wrongdoing in the matter on Wednesday. DeshGujarat
