Millions in Gujarat receive Test Message as part of Pan-India Emergency Alert System

Gandhinagar: A large-scale testing of the Cell Broadcast system took place today across the entire state of Gujarat, and millions of people received the sample testing message ’emergency alert’ message around 12 noon.
A test message was broadcasted on mobile devices of masses. When the message appeared on the phone screens, a siren-like sound accompanied it to grab the recipient’s attention. The message was received in both English and Gujarati languages, and the text of the message read as follows:
“This is a SAMPLE TESTING MESSAGE sent through Cell Broadcasting System by Department of Telecommunication, Government of India. Please ignore this message as no action is required from your end. This message has been sent to test Pan-India Emergency Alert System being implemented by National Disaster Management Authority. It aims to enhance public safety and provide timely alerts during emergencies.”
The Cell Broadcast Alert System serves as a means of disseminating crucial information about various natural disasters to mobile devices. It enables notifications, including severe weather warnings, evacuation instructions, and details about rescue operations, to be sent to the public via mobile devices to ensure their safety.
It is important to note that the SACHET portal, developed by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), facilitates the transmission of disaster-related messages to the public through various means. DeshGujarat
