Rs. 1646 crore allocation approved for 414 works in Surat, Vadodara, Jamnagar

Gandhinagar: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has given in-principle approval fore allocation of Rs. 1,646 crore to 3 Municipal Corporations of the state Surat, Vadodara, and Jamnagar for 414 works of physical and social infrastructure including the Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme.
Vadodara Municipal Corporation had proposed Rs. 184.09 crore for 47 works of urban roads that has been approved.
A proposal made by the Surat Municipal Corporation through the Urban Development Department to allocate Rs 1029.55 crore from the Swarnim Jayanthi Chief Minister’s Urban Development Scheme for the year 2023-24 for 101 physical infrastructure, 78 social infrastructure, 21 urban mobility and 202 works of distinctive identity. Chief Minister has approved.
The Jamnagar Municipal Corporation also has been made an allotment of Rs 70.31 crore from the Chief Minister’s Urban Road Scheme component of the Swarnim Jayanthi Chief Minister’s Urban Development Scheme for 25 road works in Jamnagar city.
Apart from this, 138 works of bridge, traffic management, garden, school building, anganwadi, slum area development and lake beautification under physical infrastructure works, social infrastructure development and identity works were proposed for which Rs. 348.20 crore proposal was presented. The CM has also given in-principle approval to these proposals of Jamnagar Municipal Corporation.
Not only this, the Jamnagar Municipal Corporation had also proposed Rs 13 crore for the Lakhota Kotha – Bhujia Kotha – Khambhaliya Darwaza heritage project under the Swarnim Jayanthi Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme as a landmark work to showcase the historical heritage of Jamnagar.
Also for restoration and conservation project of Mandvi Tower, a historical building in Jamnagar city Rs. 1.25 crore was proposed by the Municipal Corporation to Chief Minister for outstanding works.
Chief Minister approving these two proposals has allocated Rs. 14.25 crore to Jamnagar Municipal Corporation from the Golden Jubilee Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme for these works.
Swarnim Jayanthi Chief Minister Urban Development Scheme is a scheme launched by the current Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi as the then Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2009 as part of the celebration of 50 years of the establishment of the state to meet the increasing urbanization in the state and the challenges arising from it.
The scheme mainly includes roads, water supply, underground sewerage management as well as school buildings, hospitals, anganwadis, sports complexes, city bus services, railway overbridges and underbridges, ring roads, fly over bridges, heritage tourism, riverfront, city beautification works and landmark works.
