Surat: Adajan police have nabbed one Rehan Sheikh for sending obscene texts and blackmailing Hindu girls here. The accused, while using Hindu names, used to ask Hindu women to send nude videos, promising them modelling opportunities.
It has been learned that the accused, Rehan Sheikh, used to message women interested in modelling on WhatsApp, asking them to send nude videos. He would entice them with offers ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹100,000 in exchange for these videos.
On Wednesday, after receiving information about such messages, a group of Hindu youths conducted a watch in the area and caught the accused. Upon inquiry, they found that the accused had been using a false Hindu identity. The Hindu youths brought him to the Adajan police station. After a preliminary investigation, the police registered a complaint against Rehan and confiscated his mobile phone. The mobile phone will be sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to gather information about his activities. The accused had sent such messages to six or seven Hindu females, demanding nude videos, as revealed by the initial inquiry.
Further information is likely to come to light as the police investigation proceeds, including the number of Hindu women harassed by the accused. Information about the involvement of other individuals and the source of the money he used to offer may also be uncovered. DeshGujarat
