Police complaint filed against rickshaw and taxi drivers at Ahmedabad airport domestic arrival

Ahmedabad: On behalf of SVPI airport, the security guard of Secure-1 security service has filed a complaint against rickshaw and taxi drivers for harassing passengers at the domestic arrival terminal here.

The accused named in the FIR are Zahir Muhammad Nizamuddin Gavli, alias Javed, a resident of 301 Camp Sadar Bazar, Shahbaz, Qayoom, Shahid, and 10 more autorickshaw and taxi drivers.

According to a complainant, he was on security duty at around 10 p.m. on October 28 when rickshaw and taxi drivers sitting at the domestic arrival lane-2 BRTS bus stand were harassing passengers to carry them in their vehicles.

SVPI Airport has provided prepaid rickshaw and taxi parking. The booking counter for the same is also there. A person sitting at the counter informs a prepaid taxi driver, and later the passenger is picked up by the allotted driver. The drivers are required to sit in the parking area. However, rickshaw and taxi drivers reach up to the arrival gate and harass passengers.

As the drivers were found stopping passengers and harassing them, the complainant security guard intervened. Four drivers then gathered and started fighting with the complainant guard. Among them, Shahid took hold of a security guard, and rickshaw driver Zahid Muhammad Nizamuddin Gavli, alias Javed, started beating up the complainant. Later, security officer Kamlesh Khristi and other security guards arrived there and pushed all four drivers out of the parking area. Then ten other drivers arrived there and started abusing security guards. The police were soon called, and a complaint was filed in this regard.

It’s worth noting that rickshaw and taxi drivers are often seen approaching the passengers and causing harassment to them at the SVPI domestic arrival terminal, sometimes stopping their way. The passengers feel unwelcoming at the start of their city visit due to their nuisance. DeshGujarat
