Ahmedabad: A high-tech lab has been established in the mechanical departments of LD Engineering College in the Navarangpura area of the city. This was made possible by a Rs. 50 lakh grant donated by Sapan Majumdar, the husband of a former student of the Civil Department, Mandakini Majumdar. Additionally, Yogesh Morkhia, a former IT student, contributed Rs. 5 lakhs, which led to the setting up of two computer classrooms here.
Sapan Majumdar, the husband of an alumna of the Civil Engineering programme, donated Rs. 50 lakhs to establish a computer lab in the college. He also provided funding for hydraulics and pneumatics laboratory equipment in the Mechanical Engineering department, which was acquired from Festro Company in Germany.
Yogeshbhai Morkhia, a former IT department student, contributed Rs. 5 lakhs, enabling the creation of two modern computer classrooms within the IT department. These classrooms are equipped with an 86-inch smart interactive panel.
It’s worth noting that Mandakiniben passed away from cancer a few years ago, at the age of 46. Chaitanya Sanghvi, the college’s principal, has revealed that Professor Sapan Majumdar, who currently works at IIT Kharagpur, donated the proceeds from the sale of Mandakiniben’s property to LD College.
