ACB Gujarat nabs one on Diwali day for taking cash, makeup box, perfumes, sweets, dry fruits as bribe package

Vadodara: Not just Rs. 1.50 lakh cash but also dry fruits, sweets, makeup box, perfume etc items worth Rs. 13,560 were demanded in a bribe package by an accused in the latest case filed by the Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB) in Gujarat. ACB has nabbed a person in Vadodara in this case today when the country is celebrating Diwali festival.

Accused Yogesh Parmar(36) nabbed by ACB, works as a Data Entry Operator in Vadodara Municipal Corporation(VMC). He is also the Personal Assistant(PA), working for the Head of the department of land estate wing of VMC.

According to ACB, a complainant in this case was against illegally constructed Sidream building in his area. In response to his representations, the Municipal Commissioner had ordered disconnection of power supply to the building. However the Town Development Officer Jiteshbhai refused to execute the order. When approached by complainant, Jiteshbhai asked for bribe to execute the order. According to ACB, Jiteshbhai demanded Rs. 2 lakh package from a complainant for disconnection of power supply to Sidream building. Later he settled for Rs. 1.50 lakh bribe package. Jiteshbhai asked to pay Rs. 1.50 lakh cash to his personal assistant Yogesh Parmar along with sweets, dry fruits, perfume, makeup box etc additional items.

ACB informs that on instruction of Jiteshbhai, his PA Yogeshbhai made a list of persons, for whom dry fruits, sweets and perfumes need to be purchased by a complainant as part of the bribe package. Jiteshbhai asked complainant to pay Rs. 1.50 lakh and listed items to his PA Yogeshbhai.

Based on this a trap was arranged by ACB on 11 November, however PA Yogesh Parmar didn’t turn up. Later another trap was arranged today at complainant’s Vallabh Residence office in which the accused PA was nabbed after he received Rs. 1.50 lakh cash and sweets, dry fruits and perfume etc items.
