BJP leader, former MLA Sunil Oza passes away

Gandhinagar: Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former Gujarat legislator Sunil Oza passed away in national capital New Delhi today. Oza was lastly appointed as the Joint Incharge of Bihar unit of BJP. Before that he was joint incharge of Uttar Pradesh unit of BJP and looking after Varanasi, the Lok Sabha constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Hailing from Bhavnagar in Gujarat, Oza suffered a heart attack today morning and died in Delhi. His final rites shall take place at Varanasi on 30th November. Oza had rebelled against the party in 2007 for denial of party ticket and contested as independent but lost. He had then joined Gordhan Zadafiya lled MJP but later rejoined BJP.

When current Prime Minister Narnedra Modi contested assembly election in Gujarat for first time in 2002, Oza was incharge of Rajkot. Oza was elected to the legislative assembly in Gujarat from Bhavnagar South seat in 2002. Oza was considered close to PM Narendra Modi and he was working behind the curtain for last many years in party’s organizational set up in electorally very crucial states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
