Surat: The city of Surat, the second largest city of Gujarat will not just get a flight connectivity to Dubai but also to Hong Kong from December 17.

Lok Sabha member from Navsari and ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president in Gujarat, CR Patil has in a Facebook post made this announcement and conveyed thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia.

According to the details shared by Patil, the Indigo flight departing Surat at 21.20 hours will reach Hong Kong at 12.30 hours the next day via Delhi where the layover time will be 7.10 hours. The flight will leave Hong Kong at 13.30 hours and reach Surat at 20.50 hours after a 2.10-hour layover at Delhi.

Similarly, an Air India flight leaving Surat at 17 hours will reach Hong Kong at 6.15 am via Delhi where layover will be 4.10 hours long. The return flight by Air India will leave Surat at 7.45 hours and reach Hong Kong at 21 hours after an 8.20-hour layover at Delhi. While Indigo connectivity to Hong Kong will be daily, the Air India connectivity will be thrice a week.

While Connectivity to Hong Kong is via Delhi, the connectivity to Dubai (United Arab Emirates) will be direct. Air India Express flight will leave Surat at 9.20 and reach Dubai at 11.10. In the return journey, the flight will leave Dubai at 12.10 pm and reach Surat at 16.40 hours. The flight to Dubai will operate four days a week. In addition to this, Indigo will also operate flights on the Surat – Dubai route thrice a week, details of which are being worked out.  Being a global aviation hub, Dubai will serve the needs of the Surti people for further connectivity to Western, European, and African countries. Surat International Airport currently has a single international direct connectivity to Sharjah.

It’s worth noting that Prime Minister Narendrabhai Modi is coming to Surat on 17 December to inaugurate the Surat Diamond Bourse. He is also expected to inaugurate a new terminal of Surat airport and declare the commencement of new international flights to Dubai and connectivity to Hong Kong. DeshGujarat
