Two platforms of Udhna railway station to be shut for 3 months

Surat: Due to the ongoing redevelopment work of Udhna railway station, two of its platforms will remain shut for 90 90-day period from 21 December. The decision has been taken so that the rail traffic remains unaffected while the works on redevelopment of the station are underway. Over 150 trains are likely to be affected by this.

According to railways, platforms number 2 and 3 will remain shut for operations for 90 days period from 21st December. The trains operated at platforms 2 and 3 will be operated from platforms 4 and 5 for these 90 days.

The decision has been taken as piers of buildings will be erected from 21st December at platforms number 2 and 3. The work will involve heavy machinery. The details on which trains are to be shifted to new platforms are expected to be declared by Wednesday evening.

Once the works on platforms number 2 and 3 are over, the Railways will start working on platform number 1. The city is also witnessing the redevelopment of Surat railway station.

Udhna railway station is being redeveloped into a modern state-of-the-art station at an approved cost of Rs 223.6 crore. The works are targeted to be completed in 24 months. DeshGujarat
