Ahmedabad: Construction of the white-topping road by the Amdavad Municipal Corporation has become a topic of controversy in the Jodhpur and Satellite areas. The residents are concerned about the height of the new road, which is around 6-8 inches above the current level. Locals fear that the rise in the height of the road will lead to waterlogging in residential and commercial buildings on the roadside.

The work of white-topping on the roads is currently ongoing, and residents are worried that during heavy rain in Ahmedabad, water will flow into their houses, shops, or societies as the road level is much higher than the level of these buildings. It can be observed in some areas of Shyamal and Jodhpur, that the new road height is very close to the height of dividers and footpaths at several places, which will likely cause rainwater flow toward the buildings which are on lower level.

Local MLA from Vejalpur, Amit Thakkar, also visited Prernatirth Derasar Road, where white-topping is being done, to discuss the concerns with the local residents.
