Waghodia to become municipality; Gujarat govt takes decision

Vadodara: The Gujarat government today decided to make Waghodia in Vadodara district a new municipality. In addition to Waghodia, which is in the vicinity of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC), Madodhar and Timbi Gram Panchayats will be amalgamated to form this new Waghodia municipality. These Gram Panchayats, located near the developed Waghodia road of VMC, encompass large industries, GIDCs, and educational institutes.

Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel has approved the proposal presented by the Urban Development Department to establish Waghodia as a municipality, taking into account the pace of development in the region. It’s essential to note that, as per constitutional provisions, the State Government has the authority to merge Gram Panchayats and outgrowth areas into municipalities, considering factors such as population, population density, income of the local area, and geographical factors.

The Urban Development and Urban Housing Department of the State had submitted the proposal to the Chief Minister with the positive opinions of the Regional Commissioner of Municipalities-Vadodara Zone, Vadodara District Collector, and Vadodara Municipal Commissioner. With Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel’s approval of the proposal, the area will now enjoy extensive benefits of urban amenities, and the quality of living will also improve. DeshGujarat
