No fuel shortage in Gujarat; Truck and bus drivers strike called off

Gandhinagar: As the nationwide strike of truck and bus drivers was called off on Tuesday night, the earlier news of a fuel supply shortage in Gujarat turned out to be a rumor. The Gujarat Petrol Pump Association clarified that there will be no shortage of petrol and diesel in Gujarat due to the truck drivers’ strike.

While the strike led to shortages in many states across the country, causing queues of vehicles at petrol pumps in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan, concerns arose about its potential impact on Gujarat. However, the Petrol Pump Association has assured relief for vehicle drivers in the state.

Gujarat Petroleum Association President Arvind Thakkar stated that there will be no shortage of petroleum products in the state, as the federation has an ample quantity. The truck drivers’ strike has affected transportation, but motorists in the state need not worry, and there is no need to form lines.

The Surat and Tapi Petrol and Diesel Dealers Association official mentioned that there are over 352 fuel stations in the Surat and Tapi districts, and the supply has remained uninterrupted.

In another development, after discussions with the Union Home Secretary, the issue of truck drivers was resolved on Tuesday. The All India Motor Transport Congress has appealed to drivers to call off the strike and return to work. The talks will continue.

The President of the All India Motor Transport Congress, Amrit Lal Madan, said, “You are not just our drivers; you are our soldiers. We do not want you to face any inconvenience. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has kept the ten years of punishment and fine that were imposed on hold. Until the next meeting of the All India Motor Transport Congress is held, no laws will be imposed.” DeshGujarat
