Day 1 of PM Modi’s visit to his home state for Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024

Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to his home state of Gujarat for the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. The Prime Minister arrived at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in Ahmedabad on late Monday evening. He is poised to inaugurate the largest global trade show ‘Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show’ later today at Helipad Grounds.

After landing in Ahmedabad, the Prime Minister posted on X, “Landed in Ahmedabad a short while ago. Over the next two days, will be taking part in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit and related programmes. It is a matter of immense joy that various world leaders will be joining us during this Summit. The coming of my brother, HH Mohamed Bin Zayed is very special.

I have a very close association with the Vibrant Gujarat Summit and I am glad to see how this platform has contributed to Gujarat’s growth and created opportunities for several people.”

7:15 pm – Several Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) signed between India and UAE in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Gujarat

6:00 pm – PM Narendra Modi and UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan hold roadshow.

5:45 pm – PM Modi receives UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan at SVPI airport in Ahmedabad

4:00 pm – Prime Minister Modi reviews the GIFT City draft master plan during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show at the Helipad Ground in Gandhinagar.

3:45 pm : PM Modi at Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show in Gandhinagar

3:10 pm – PM Modi inaugurates Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show 2024 in Gandhinagar. He also released a commemorative coin, stamp at the inauguration event.

2:00 pm – After meeting PM Modi in Gandhinagar, President Suzuki Motors, Toshihiro Suzuki says, “I reported the whole project. He had a very good response. I am happy. I have a good relationship with Gujarat. I would like to invest more…”

13:30 pm – Prime Minister Narendra Modi holds a bilateral meeting with Mozambique President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, in Gandhinagar. Both leaders held discussions on ways to further bilateral ties, including in the areas of defence, counter-terrorism, energy, health, trade & investment, capacity building, maritime cooperation and people to people ties.

12:25 pm – CEO AP Moller-Maersk, Keith Svendsen meets Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The PM welcomed their expansion plans in the GIFT City. Their discussions encompassed the crucial topics of green hydrogen and the development of logistics infrastructure.

12:05 pm – PM Modi holds a meeting with Toshihiro Suzuki, President of Suzuki Motors. They discussed Maruti Suzuki’s plans to make India a strong player in the global automotive market by exporting Made in India vehicles, along with deploying global best practices related to vehicle scrapping and vehicle recycling into India.

11:55 am – Vice Chancellor of Deakin University, Professor Iain Martin met PM Modi. They had a productive discussion on enhancing collaboration between government and academic institutions pertaining to cybersecurity. The PM also welcomed Deakin University to collaborate with Indian universities for promoting research and innovation.

11:45 am – PM Narendra Modi meets Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem CEO of DP World. They discussed DP World’s plans to further bolster investment in India, especially pertaining to creating sustainable, green, and energy-efficient ports, and world class sustainable logistic infrastructure.

11:30 am –  PM Modi meets Sanjay Mehrotra president and chief executive officer of Micron Technology. They discussed Micron’s efforts to enhance the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in India.

10:15 am – In his first meeting, the Prime Minister held a bilateral talks with the President of Timor Leste, H.E. Mr. Jose Ramos-Horta, at Mahatma Mandir in the state capital. Prime Minister extended a warm welcome to President Horta and his delegation to the Vibrant Gujarat Summit on what is the first ever Head of State or Government level visit between the two countries. Prime Minister re-affirmed India’s commitment to build a vibrant “Delhi-Dili” connect. In September 2023, he had announced the opening of the Indian Mission in the country. He offered assistance to Timor-Leste in capacity building, human resource development, IT, fintech, energy and healthcare including traditional medicine and pharma. He also invited Timor-Leste to join the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI).

President Horta expressed strong support for India’s permanent membership of the UN Security Council. The leaders committed to continue their excellent cooperation in the multilateral arena. Prime Minister appreciated Timor-Leste’s active participation in the two editions of the Voice of Global South Summit. They agreed that countries of the Global South should synergize their position on global issues.

9:30 am – Starting his tour, the Prime Minister reached Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Centre in the state capital, where he is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with world leaders and one-on-one meetings with several top businessmen.
