Gujarat-made 500 kg Nagada reaches Ayodhya ahead of consecration ceremony

Ayodhya: The 500-kg ‘nagada’ (drum), crafted by Ahmedabad’s Akhil Bharatiya Dabgar Samaj, arrived in this city on Thursday. The large musical instrument, gold and silver plated, was transported in a special chariot weighing around 700 kgs for the consecration ceremony at Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir.

Champat Rai, the general secretary of the Ram Janmabhoomi Theerth Kshetra trust, stated, “We will determine its installation location on the temple premises.”

Ashok Rawal, a leader of the Gujarat Vishwa Hindu Parishad, sent a letter to the temple trust urging them to accept the musical instrument.

Crafted with an estimated lifespan of 1,000 years, over 25 artisans worked on this drum tirelessly, with an additional 10 artisans from Uttar Pradesh contributing their skills to the artwork. The artisans worked 24 hours a day in different shifts for three months to prepare it. Brass spheres have been strategically placed atop the Nagara to prevent damage. In total, four Nagaras will be placed in the temple. DeshGujarat
