Amdavais to witness WWE-style wrestling event on February 25

Ahmedabad: A wrestling event similar to WWE is set to take place in the city for the first time, allowing sports enthusiasts to witness live wrestling. The event is scheduled for February 25th, from 6 pm to 10 pm, at R M Farm opposite Karnavati Club on S G Highway. Approximately 25 wrestlers from states including Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat will participate in this unique wrestling event.

Professional wrestler Shani Prajapati told the media that this marks the 8th season of the wrestling tournament to be held in Ahmedabad. The event was initially organized in Palanpur in 2019, followed by events in areas like Patan, Mehsana, and Visnagar. The Ahmedabad event is planned for an audience of over ten thousand, with ticket prices ranging from 299 to 4999.

When asked whether Indian WWE players or foreign players would participate, Shani Prajapati explained that currently, India has many players like The Great Khali, Jinder Mahal, and Shera, who have been associated with WWE. However, due to their commitments in America, they couldn’t be invited. Nevertheless, players, including Shani Prajapati’s younger brother Ravi Prajapati, will showcase their skills in this tournament.

Regarding the choice of Ahmedabad as the venue, Shani Prajapati mentioned that they’ve organized events in various places and decided to bring it to Ahmedabad based on the city’s support. The wrestling match will feature actions similar to WWE, where wrestlers use chairs and ladders, but with Indian fighters in the ring. The stage ring is made of iron pipes, extending 18 feet and covered with wooden planks. This entire ring measures 18 by 18.

Similar to WWE, this tournament will award belts, with more than 7 bouts planned, including singles matches, tag team matches, and royal rumble formats. The tournament will feature belts in two categories: the National Heavyweight Championship and the World Heavyweight Championship, each costing approximately 6 to 7 lakh rupees.

Several dignitaries, including State Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and MoS Home and Sport Harsh Sanghvi, are invited to the event.

Shani Prajapati highlighted that Indian wrestlers and a well-trained referee will participate in the fight, showcasing the talent of referees trained at The Great Khali Institute. The match will feature three referees, with two working backstage. DeshGujarat
