Cable bridge on Narmada Main Canal on Gandhinagar Metro Route nearly complete

Gandhinagar: The extra dosed cable stayed bridge across the Narmada Main Canal on the Narendra Modi Stadium to Gandhinagar section of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-II is nearing completion, the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Ltd annonced today.

The GMRC stated that the cable stayed bridge has a central span of 145 meters and end spans of 79 meters and two pylons of 28.1 meter height. Work of the pylons and 100 segments of the total 105 segments has been completed in record time and bridge work will be completed shortly following which laying of track and installation of third rail etc. will be completed. Train Trials are expected to start in March/April, the offical note further said.
GMRC, in December last year, had also stated that the works are being executed with a target to start trials of the Metro train in April 2024. Phase 2 of the Ahmedabad Metro rail project is meant for Metro rail connectivity between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar and also for internal transportation within Gandhinagar.
